Met some friends that were floating the Yuba about 1/2 way through their float and fished with them for about an hour today. The fishing was slooowww. Prior to meeting up with me, they had one hook-up, and then I had one hook-up, but none landed. I'm still waiting to hear from them to see what the rest of their trip was like. They're good fishermen, so if they came up empty you know it's bad.
There are really no prolific hatches right now; just a couple of March Browns, some PMD's, and a few caddis. Looks like the skawlas are done (although we are still having some success on skawla nymphs...just not today). River flows are around 850 and running clear.
Should start to see more caddis and PMDs in the coming weeks. Already saw a couple of yellow sallies last week. Probably wont be too much longer before the action starts picking up again.
We had such a great Winter, I wont complain about a slow early Spring!
